Why Here Together Exists

Over the past six years, I’ve worked as an educator and facilitator in peer support, holding spaces focused on mental health, connection, and emotional wellbeing. I’ve also worked towards building an infrastructure for belonging at Taraki.

Much of that work was rooted in South Asian communities. However, over time one truth became impossible to ignore:

Loneliness is not niche.

It exists across cultures, identities, and backgrounds.
And it’s becoming increasingly common.

Again and again, people shared similar experiences:

  • Feeling unseen despite being surrounded by others

  • Wanting deeper connection but not knowing where to find it

  • Lacking spaces where they could simply be themselves

Here Together was born from the realisation that the principles of peer support — shared humanity, listening without fixing, mutual care — are needed far beyond any one community.

This project is an intentional widening of that work.

What we believe

Loneliness is not a personal failure — it’s a social one

  • Community doesn’t happen automatically; it needs care and structure

  • People heal and grow through relationship, not isolation

  • You don’t need to be “in crisis” to deserve connection

Here Together is about making space for connection to happen — gently, ethically, and without hierarchy.
